Marnier

The Marnier liqueurs have history as far back as 1827 with the foundation of a distillery by Jean-Baptiste Lapostolle to begin producing fruit liqueurs. It was not until 1880 though when Louis-Alexandre Marnier Lapostolle asked his friend Cesar Ritz to try his new "Curaçao Marnier" that the famous drink would come to exist. The hotelier so enjoyed it that he insisted it be renamed Grand Marnier.

An innovative blend of cognac with a rare Caribbean orange, at the time very much a luxury item, Grand Marnier would become the company's flagship product. Today, the Marnier line includes other liqueurs with a range of uses: in cocktails, in desserts or even just consumed neat as a digestif.
