Green Spot

Green Spot is a single pot still Irish whiskey introduced by Mitchell & Son in the 1920s. Established as a whiskey bonding business - the practice of buying new make spirit from distilleries for the purpose of maturing it for their own blend - they are one of only a tiny number of whiskey bonder families still in business today.

Green Spot takes its name from the Mitchell family's practice of marking their casks of different ages with a spot of paint. The Green Spot whiskey, aged between 7 and 10 years in bourbon and sherry casks, proved their most popular and persists to this day. Whiskey writer Jim Murray described Green Spot as "unquestionably one of the world's great whiskeys".
