Glen Moray

Glen Moray Distillery dates back to 1897, located on the banks of the river Lossie in Moray. It was established by Robert Thorne & Sons, but sadly allowed to run down when the company was forced to focus on their Aberlour distillery following a fire. It was acquired by the MacDonald and Muir families in the 1920s who have restored it to a successful Speyside distillery.

Glen Moray benefits from one of Scotland's milder climates, sheltered by the Cairngorm and Monadhliath mountains, and also sitting in a hollow below the water table. This means the whisky will mature faster than others do, in exchange for the Angels taking a slightly greater share through evaporation.
