d'Arenberg

d'Arenberg was founded in 1912 by Joseph Osborn, director of Thomas Hardy and Sons, who sold his stable of prize-winning horses to purchase the property in Australia's McLaren Vale which was to become the winery today. His son Frank joined him and together they began acquiring vineyards, selling grapes to other wineries before the d'Arenberg winery itself was built in 1927.

Joseph's great grandson Chester became chief winemaker in 1984 after graduating with an Oenology degree. He has dedicated himself to his passion of discovering new varieties of grape suitable for growing in McLaren Vale and today creates innovative wines from over 33 varieties.
