Canadian Club

The distillery that would come to produce Canadian Club was founded by Hiram Walker in 1858. With Michigan becoming "dry" from the growing prohibition movement, Walker moved to Ontario, Canada to take advantage of the high quality local grain there.

Produced early on as a premium whisky, it found popularity in gentleman's clubs and came to be known as "Club Whisky". American distillers petitioned for the inclusion of the "Canadian" brand thinking to slow it's popularity, but instead only serving to make it more in demand than the abundant American brands.
