The name Boekenhoutskloof means 'ravine of the Boekenhout' (pronounced Book-n-Howed) referring to a local beech tree highly prized in furniture making. Though dating back to 1776, the winery was bought and restored by new owners in 1993 who established a new vineyard planting programme. Whilst making outstanding wines, the team is also committed to the conservation of the Cape Floral Kingdom, a local area of rich biodiversity.
