A beautifully structured Talisker, bottled as a Special Release in 2011. Each bottle is one of only 5946 bottles. This 25 Year Old is an olive gold in colour. A drying nose, with hints of seaweed, aged oranges, distant smoke and hints of chalk. It has a surprising juicy fruitiness, though its Talisker identity is clear. With a splash of water the whisky opens up to a waxy sweetness. Sweet and gentle to start, with some slight acidity and saltiness. You experience extraordinary flavour development; becoming dry, stony, minerally, dusty, toasty and hints of ground white pepper and chillies. A medium to long finish that's slightly bitter and drying, with a warming effect. |
