Macallan Rare Cask is a uniquely balanced yet complex single malt. Only the finest rare casks are hand-picked at the right point of maturation. Each limited release batch represents the volume of just 50 European sherry seasoned oak casks. A high proportion of these casks are first fill, producing a rich palate and a natural, rich mahogany colour. Macallan's commitment and investment in wood and sourcing the industry's finest, highest quality casks goes into producing Rare Cask. Each cask is keenly watched over by the Master of Wood, coopered and seasoned to exacting standards. It exhibits soft notes of opulent vanilla and raisin on the nose, this evolves to a sweet ensemble of apple, lemon and orange. The oaks resonates throughout, polished and rich. Vanilla and chocolate, with a light touch of lemon zest leads to the finish. The finish, like its natural mahogany-red colour, is both full and warming.
