Isle of Jura Prophecy commemorates an old legend from the island. The Campbell clan, who ruled the island at the time, rudely evicted an old woman from her home. Revealing herself to be a seer, she prophecied that the last Campbell would leave the island one-eyed and penniless, all his possessions on a cart towed by a single white horse. In 1938, the prophecy was proven true as Charles Campbell, half blinded during WWI and fallen on hard times, became the last Campbell to leave Jura packing his possessions on a cart drawn by a white horse. The seer's symbol watched over every bottle of Isle of Jura Prophecy A non-chill filtered and heavily peated offering from Isle of Jura, aged in bourbon, sherry and Limousin oak casks. A fiery golden amber colour, the peat in this offering gives a much smokier nose than other Jura whiskies, with a touch of spicy and salty sea spray. The flavours on the nose are all present on the palate, with notes of soft licorice as well as spices, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. A good length finish with spicy pepper notes and even more peat smoke. |
