Description:
Deep straw in colour with straw with green tints, the Bastard Hill Chardonnay shows citrus, lemon, flint, burnt match on the nose, along with other characteristics including sweet tobacco, fresh hay, malty and vanillan oak. These characteristics are carried through on the palate which is powerful yet restrained with fineness, finesse, length and elegance. It shows creamy lemon, smokiness and light chariness adding to the complexity of the wine.

Background Information - The Yarra Burn winery and vineyards are situated on the southern side of the Yarra Valley, Victoria. A limited quantity of premium varietal wine is produced each vintage from this renowned cool climate viticultural area, all of which reflect Yarra Burn's signature of elegance and finesse.

Winemaker's Notes - The creation of this unique style was inspired by the wines of Chablis and reflects the terroir of the Hoodles Creek vineyard. Hand harvested, from select parcels of Block 4 and Block 7, and while bunch pressed to maximise softness. One hundred percent barrel fermentation with the retention of some grape solids, specifically selected yeasts, malo-lactic fermentation of the complete blend and 8 months aging in oak and on lees has added to the natural complexity and mouth feel of the wine and will continue to do so for up to 15 years.
