Description:
A rich and complex wine displaying generous ripe berry flavours complemented by spicy French oak.
Crimson red in colour. The bouquet is quite intense showing cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon characters of blackcurrant and savoury briar.
The palate is immediately appealing with dark fruits and a warm juiciness. The mid palate is supple, showing berries with soft oak tannins giving generosity and structure to a fine silky finish.
Matured for 12 months in 33% new hogshead and barriques (predominantly French).

100% Wrattonbully fruit.
Background Information:
This wine is named after Sir Douglas Mawson one of Australia's finest explorers. Yalumba was a sponsor of Mawson's pioneering Antarctic expeditions in 1911-14.
