Crimson red in colour. The bouquet is quite intense showing cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon characters of blackcurrant and savoury briar. The palate is immediately appealing with dark fruits and a warm juiciness. The mid palate is supple, showing berries with soft oak tannins giving generosity and structure to a fine silky finish. Matured for 12 months in 33% new hogshead and barriques (predominantly French). Grape Variety: 100% Wrattonbully fruit. Background Information: This wine is named after Sir Douglas Mawson one of Australia's finest explorers. Yalumba was a sponsor of Mawson's pioneering Antarctic expeditions in 1911-14.
