Description:
Deep red in colour with vibrant purple hues, the bouquet shows lifted complex and gentle spice with warm chocolate notes. The palate is round and soft and exhibits soft chalk tannins. This wine also displays rich mocha, red berry and white pepper characteristics.
Background Information:
Since 1859 the historic Houghton Winery in Western Australia has been famous for its distinctive wines. Today, Houghton continues the tradition by consistently producing award winning wines of finesse and character. Select fruit parcels are sourced from WA's premium wine growing regions including the Margaret & Frankland Rivers, Swan Valley & Gingin. This fruit is then handed over to the outstanding winemaking team at Houghton's where it is used to produce an extraordinary range of wines which show intensity of flavour and exceptional quality and are enjoyed in Australia and throughout the world.
Winemakers Notes:
Fruit for this wine was sourced from the premium grape growing regions in Western Australia. A combination of continental and Mediterranean climates have increased grape quality significantly. Further winemaking techniques have enhanced the varietal fruit characters of the fruit. Bag pressing has ensured harsh phenolics did not enter the juice, and maturation in French and American oak has added complexity and structure to the wine.
